Competitive Research
What
is competitive
research?
Although there are several types
of competitive research that can be done, the type discussed
here is the process of reviewing your competitor's online
strategies to help identify their online strengths and
weaknesses.
Why is competitive research
important?
- Provides
insights that can help you compete more effectively
against that competitor
- Tells you
how competitors are optimizing their websites and where
they have vulnerabilities
-
Provides detail about
competitors' backlink strategies so that you can
relicate those that may work well for your own site
as well
Who
benefits from competitive
research?
-
Anyone with an existing website that is not ranking
well in the search engines
-
Anyone wishing to know the strenghts and weaknesses of
their online competitors
What else
should I know about competitive research?
Ideally,
keyword research is done at the very front end of the site
concept and development process. Using that keyword
knowledge, the site can then be developed using
those keywords, giving you the greatest
potential for your site to be found
online.
Obviously, no
one wants to spend time and money targeting keywords that
very few people are using to search. On the flip side, if 100
million results come up when a particular keyword is searched,
it will likely be very difficult to achieve a high organic
search result. That's why it's important to not only identify
popular keywords, but to look at the competitive situation for
those words as well. Only then can keywords be identified that
have the best potential to achieve high organic search results
if optimized well.
If your site is already
functioning but your results aren't what you had hoped, you can
still benefit from keyword research and make adjustments to
your site to leverage that learning.
What is included in competitive
research?
- Identification of competitor's primary
keywords
- Competitor's Page Rank and
Alexa score
- Review of competitor's on
site SEO effectiveness
- Summary of
competitor's organic search positions for primary
keywords
- Summary report of competitor's inbound
links
What does competitive research
cost?
$100 per
competitor. If further information about competitors beyond
that outlined in the list above, we will be happy to provide a
quote.
